Disney Reveals Lead Cast for Live-Action Tangled Adaptation

Disney has officially unveiled the lead cast for its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Tangled, bringing the classic Rapunzel story from animation to the big screen.

On January 7, 2026, Walt Disney Pictures confirmed that Teagan Croft will portray Rapunzel, while Milo Manheim has been cast as her counterpart Flynn Rider (also known as Eugene).

Croft, an Australian actress known for her work as Raven in the Titans series and her role in Netflix’s True Spirit, steps into the role originated by Mandy Moore in the 2010 animated film. Manheim, familiar to audiences from Disney’s Zombies franchise, takes on the charismatic thief first voiced by Zachary Levi.

The live-action project is directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) with a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Producer Kristin Burr also returns to the Disney fold after work on Cruella. The film aims to preserve the musical and adventurous spirit of the original while updating it for a contemporary audience.

Although a release date has not yet been announced, additional casting updates—including potential confirmations for Mother Gothel—are expected as production progresses.
