Ceilidh to dance across the UK following Pitlochry premiere

A brand-new Scottish musical celebrating music, dance and community is set to make its UK debut at Pitlochry Festival Theatre before embarking on a London season and a nationwide tour. Ceilidh blends an uplifting family story with the traditions of Scotland's famous social gatherings.
Scotland's newest musical is preparing to step onto the national stage as Ceilidh launches at Pitlochry Festival Theatre before heading to London and venues across the UK this autumn.
Created by acclaimed writing duo Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie, who work under the name Noisemaker, Ceilidh is described as part musical, part social event and part heartfelt family drama. Set during a traditional Scottish ceilidh, the production combines live folk music, energetic dancing and an emotional story exploring family relationships, inheritance and the importance of shared traditions. Audiences are welcomed into the celebration by a caller and live band, creating an immersive theatrical experience inspired by one of Scotland's best-loved cultural customs.
The production forms part of the 75th anniversary season at Pitlochry Festival Theatre under the artistic direction of Alan Cumming. Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Sam Pinkleton, whose recent credits include Oh, Mary! and the upcoming Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show, reunites with the creative team after the musical's successful North American premiere.
Following its run in Pitlochry, Ceilidh will transfer to Shoreditch Town Hall in London from 22 October to 13 November before touring to High Wycombe, Eastbourne, Fareham, Guildford and Bradford, with additional dates expected to be announced. The production features a cast of Scottish performers and aims to bring the warmth, joy and spirit of a traditional ceilidh to audiences throughout the country. With its infectious music, vibrant choreography and touching story, Ceilidh looks set to become one of the standout new British musicals of the year.
